June 2011 - Helmsley Arts & Music Festival
Hi Simon
Thank you so much for your very significant contribution to the evening. Your set was slick and exciting and really got the crowd going. We were lucky to have you. We would certainly love to have you back! Thank you also for the loan of the drums and for extending that on the night to the other bits and pieces that I'm sure you would far rather not have doing the rounds. I do hope that everything was left in the condition in which it arrived? Just give me a call when you would like to retrieve the kit - hopefully we'll be around and in a position to persuade you in for a drink.
We're still doing the final tally on the evening but from what we have seen so far it seems likely that we will not be far short of £5,000 for our charities despite the weather, so not a bad result.
Thanks again
Simon W
October 2010 - Kennyfest
Well what another fantastic year for Kennyfest. About £2000 has now been raised this year – and that’s bumped the total for Kennyfest up to the £6000 mark. Amazing – gobsmacked by the reaction we receive year in year out. The Kennyfesters are an amazing bunch and really do dig deep. Without you lot turning up and making noise we couldn’t get the bands…. 14 out of 15 bands this year asked to come back next year……..what can you do? Nice position to be in, I think that’s what they call an embarrassment of riches. And that’s a better rate than how many cats like Whiskers. Topper.
Big thanks to Creature – fantastic opening slot – you lads were up against it – but went for it big style – what a great bunch of lads. Chaos Asylum – cant describe the reaction you lads got for a second band on – 3.20pm on Saturday afternoon – awesome. Even my dad was taken back by you – and he’s 70. Soundhouse Coming up from Doncaster – great bunch of lads, great set – nothing better to help the beer go down.

Well there is not a lot more that I can say about Woodystock that has not already been said, Saturday was a bit breezy and early doors it was a bit low on the number of people attending but it improved as the day went on. Sunday saw a much bigger attendance. All of the bands on both days were outstanding and I must thank them for doing a great job. Once again the Splash Alley crew worked their arses off The club and the officials put a lot of time, effort and cash into this event and they are already planning next years event so it looks like Woodystock will become a regular live music and fundraising event. Basically I want to thank everyone who attended, took part or contributed to the success of this event and a special thanks to yourself, Tracey and of course Simon from Cancer Research UK for attending for the official cheque presentations. I will let you know how much the event raised as soon as I get the figures from the club. |

East Yorks classic rock band SoundHouse played another charity event at the Squires Cafe Bar on Friday night and our roving reporter Dave Cavell sent the following words: "Me and Molly managed to get along to Squires to see SoundHouse, they had the house rocking (not too many folk there though) they played some good classic rock (Free, ZZ Top, UFO, Rainbow) and I think they managed to raise about £300 for the Haiti appeal." Thanks for those words Dave. It seems this band are always more than willing to play for charity events and it would be nice to see them on the local circuit. - Dave Cavell from Rock Of The North
